Erica Romkema grew up in Iowa and Minnesota. She learned to love her rural environment while at the same time appreciating history, culture, and the arts from around the world. After plenty of years of studying, she got herself a B.A. in English and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Environment. A post-college trip to France, with its whimsical cottages and golden chateaux, reminded her to keep believing in fairytales, even while she was getting her boots on and facing the challenges of the real world. Her writing has come to encompass her various passions, as she pens middle-grade novels, sacred poetry, and essays on nature and agriculture. She also contributes to A Growing Culture and Darling.
